Okavango: An Africa Wildlife Adventure

If you are one of those who thinks you need to be Tarzan to experience a wildlife adventure; you need to go to Okavango Delta, an area of more than 17,000 square km of flood plains, waterways, lagoons and hidden channels. It is considered the largest land delta in the world. The delta is trapped in the parched Kalahari sands, and it is a magnet for the wildlife.

Situated in South Africa is a spectacular place that has become one of the greatest experiences available for safaris tours in South Africa. If you are a lover of nature, you can experience a large variety of animals and bird species.  During the winter months, the water reaches peak levels. The Kruger National Park has become a sanctuary for more than 147 mammals, 114 reptiles and 502 bird species.  The land area spans 400 km from north to south and around 80 km from east to west. It is surrounded by small private game reserves that offer safaris tours to ensure visitors a maximum experience at the Kruger Park in South Africa.

It is located in the northeastern part of South Africa, which is 4 to 5 hours in driving distance from Johannesburg.  If you are flying, it will take 1 hour from Johannesburg and 2 hours from Cape Town. To take advantage of all this park has to offer, you will need a minimum of 3 to 4 days.  From November to February of each year, visitors will enjoy amazing views.  The land is attractive with lush vegetation and the glorious views of the landscape. During these winter months, wildlife animals are usually bearing their offspring.  Many times they do this out in the open, so tourists will be able to watch as the young are born.

From April to August the level of the water goes down, and the animals typically spend most of their time near the rivers and waterholes.  For people who love wildlife, this is the ultimate dream.  To experience watching exotic animals in their natural habitat is pretty amazing, to say the least.  Lyons, elephants and Impala Antelope make their homes in the park, and between the three, it is estimated that there are nearly 200,000 of them in total. The famous big 5 can also be seen in the park.

Among the facilities are several rest camps, restaurants and general stores to make visitors feel that they have the comforts of home at their fingertips. You can even find a library and a museum at the main camp. In this park, you can find almost 200 safari lodges with most of them following international standards. If you want to obtain more information, you can search at the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa or any Kruger Safari reviews on the internet.
